POE Advisory Group Mission and Goals

Mission

  • To determine the best methods of providing quality education and training to our supplier community.

Goals

  • Develop timely, useful, relevant educational opportunities for our suppliers
  • Provide input in the creation, implementation and review of Provider Education and Training
  • Determine innovative, cost effective methods of using technology in provider education and training CMS Internet Only Manual (IOM), Publication 100-09, Chapter 6.

Reminder: We meet on a quarterly basis to discuss educational opportunities that Noridian Education can provide to suppliers through workshops, our website, and our listserv. We aren't able to discuss claim-specific questions or issues you may be seeing with claims. Please direct those questions to our Supplier Contact Center where they can be researched and resolved.

Standing Agenda Items

  1. Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI)
    • Some members reported that they are not experiencing any issues
    • Some reported beneficiaries not bringing in MBI numbers
    • Requested CMS send more reminders to Beneficiaries
    • Discussed use of MBI tool – tool is beneficial in supplier perspective
  2. Targeted Probe and Educate (TPE)
    • Chart removed from minutes for time being
    • Cindy and Trina met with MR and MR is researching ability to provide additional breakdown of errors by TPE round

Follow up information from previous meeting

  1.  Flow chart for dentists for steps in providing Oral Appliances
    • Pending
    • Targeted completion Q2 2019 and now hoping for Q3 – Cindy did attend national conference for AADSM and provide education
  2. Training Curriculum status
  3. Webinar specifically for Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM)
    • Another webinar focusing on CGM was held June 27
      • Member suggested to update DME on Demand with recently discussed information about CGMs (converting back)
        • We (Noridian) have this in process
  4. Suggestions for enhanced training include:
    • Continuous Passive Motion (CPM)
      • CPM date span calculator launched May 22
    • Non-invasive ventilation
      • Full ventilator webinar - June 4
    • Respiratory Assist Devices (RAD)
      • RAD level 200 webinar - June 20
  5. Short webinar or DME on Demand for telemedicine
    • In process and has expanded to a Part A/B and DME collaborative effort
  6. RT/LT Modifiers
    • There is no specific listing of HCPCS codes requiring RT/LT modifier; however, any product that can be used bilaterally is affected

New Items

  1. Membership reminder
    • There is a requirement for attendance at 3 of 4 POEAG meetings
    • We have been reviewing attendance and members will be receiving email regarding status
    • Goal is to make sure that members are actively involved in education process

Suggestions from POE Advisory Members

  1. Member noted that the Pressure Reducing Support Surface (PRRS) documentation checklist still states WOPD and should be updated
    • Noridian indicated all checklists are in process of review and update
  2. Member requested better access to billing services for NMP. (can't sign up as billing service if using different portal to submit claims) – need to sign up as provider end user or administrative which is restricting use of NMP for billing services
  3. Member suggested addition of a column to DME on Demand page to include the last update date. Easily viewable without accessing tutorial
