Custom Fabricated Orthoses Coverage

Medicare covers custom-fabricated Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs) and Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses (KAFOs) for ambulatory beneficiaries when basic coverage criteria are met—such as the need to control the knee, ankle, or foot in more than one plane, or when a pre-fabricated orthosis isn’t sufficient.
