Appeals Status (Part B and DME)
Available For: Part B, DME
Note: The status of Part A Appeals are available when performing a Claim Status Inquiry. Visit the Claim Status section for instructions. Part A Appeals can be submitted through a Claim Status Inquiry also. Visit the Appeals (Part A Only) section for instructions.
Inquiry
- Select Appeals from the main menu, then go to the Appeals Status Inquiry tab
- Select the TIN or SSN, NPI and PTAN it was submitted under and select one of the following options:
- Option 1 - View Last 100 Appeals
- Option 2 - Search Existing Appeals (at least one field required)
- Medicare ID
- Appeal Status (Pending, Finalized, Additional Documentation Needed)
- Confirmation Number
Note: Noridian processes reopening and redetermination requests within 60 days of receipt.
Response
The results will display
- Confirmation Number
- Claim Number
- Medicare Number
- Date Submitted
Note: Results from January 1, 2022 to current date will be available. For results prior to that date, please contact the Provider Contact Center
To view more information on the request, select the View Appeal link.
A list of the submitted documentation displays. To view the document, select View Document.
If additional documentation is needed, select "Add a Document". The file size for each upload is 70 MB. File types accepted include: .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .pdf, .bmp, .ppt, .pptx, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, rtf, .tif, .tiff, .txt, .xml, .dbf and .xxA1.
The decision letter from Appeals is available to view when the request is finalized. Letters are only available for partially favorable and denied appeals. Providers are notified of favorable decisions through the remittance advice.
