Hydrophilic-coated Catheters

Prior to 2026, hydrophilic-coated catheters were billed using the standard intermittent catheter HCPCS codes (A4351-A4353), with no separate designation for hydrophilic products. This often led to confusion in documentation, coding, and reimbursement.

Effective January 1, 2026, Medicare established new HCPCS codes specifically for hydrophilic-coated catheters, creating a clear distinction between hydrophilic and non-hydrophilic products and improving coding accuracy and reimbursement clarity.
