CMS recently announced updates to the Medicare Required Prior Authorization (PA) List and the Required Face-to-Face (F2F)/Written Order Prior to Delivery (WOPD) List that become effective for dates of service on or after October 28, 2026.

K0005 (Ultralightweight Manual Wheelchair Base) has been added to the Required PA and WOPD/F2F List. Suppliers must obtain a prior authorization decision before furnishing the item and billing Medicare. PA requirements do not change existing coverage criteria.

E1161 (Manual Adult Tilt-in-Space Wheelchair) has been added to the Required F2F/WOPD List. As a result, a F2F encounter, valid WOPD, and all applicable documentation requirements must be completed prior to delivery. The E1161 remains in the voluntary ADMC program.

Suppliers are encouraged to review current documentation requirements and ensure complete records are submitted to help avoid delays and claim denials. Refer to the Federal Register announcement for more details.
