Prescribed amount of oxygen exceeds 4 liters per minute and portable oxygen is prescribed
Monthly reimbursement for stationary oxygen is dependent on the amount of oxygen (liters per minute or LPM) prescribed by the ordering physician and whether or not portable oxygen has also been prescribed. This modifier identifies the quantity of oxygen prescribed and if portable oxygen has been prescribed.
Correct Use
- Append to oxygen claims when ordering physician has prescribed more than four (4) LPM of oxygen as well as portable oxygen
