HCPCS code A4367 describes an ostomy belt. Ostomy support belts are billed using code A4421 (Ostomy supply, miscellaneous). HCPCS code L0940 (torso support, postsurgical support) describes a prefabricated semi-rigid, adjustable garment used to support the lower part of the body after surgery. Based on review of claims data, code L0940 is often being used in error to bill for ostomy support belts.

Code L0940 must not be used to bill for ostomy belts or ostomy support belts. Claims for ostomy support belts submitted with code L0940 will be denied as an incorrect code. Suppliers of these items should verify that they are correctly coding their product and submitting claims for ostomy support belts using code A4421.
