Direct Data Entry (DDE)
DDE allows providers to verify eligibility and check claim status (paid, denied or pending). Providers can check the status of claims within three days of a successful transmission.
DDE requires a connectivity service provided by an external company to establish the connection. It is the provider's responsibility to coordinate connectivity services. Options for connectivity can be found on the Noridian Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) website under Connectivity Vendors.
Noridian is responsible for assigning user IDs and terminating access for DDE. The Medicare Claims Processing System (MCPS) Form is used for all security changes/updates.

During quarterly releases, holidays, and system purge weekends, DDE will not be available. See Contact for these schedules.

Installing True Type Font for DDE Manual
The Part A DDE training manuals include special characters that represent keystrokes. To view the characters correctly, you will need to install the Keystroke font.
If you are using Internet Explorer, right click on the Keystroke font link above and select 'Save as'. To save the font in Netscape Navigator, right click on the link and select 'Save link as.' Then, save the file into the following location:
Windows 95/98/XP: C:\Windows\Fonts
Windows NT/2000: C:\WINNT\Fonts
Note: If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader© open when you're installing the font, you must close and reopen your document before you will see the new font.
