2017-2018 Flu Season
The AMA CPT® has established a new influenza virus vaccine for the quadrivalent flu vaccine Flucelvax®. It is CPT 90756 (Influenza virus vaccine, quadrivalent (ccIIV4), derived from cell cultures, subunit, antibiotic free, 0.5 mL dosage, for intramuscular use) and will be accepted, by the Medicare claims processing systems, only on/after Medicare's implementation date of January 1, 2018.
Providers using this specific vaccine between the beginning of the vaccine season on August 1, 2017 and January 1, 2018 may submit a claim using the undifferentiated HCPCS Q2039 (Influenza virus vaccine, not otherwise specified) with the actual 2017 date of service.
To submit such claims, enter HCPCS Q2039 with the description "Flucelvax 90756 equivalent" in the following comment fields.
