Welcome New Providers and Billers - JF Part A
Welcome New Providers and Billers
Welcome to Medicare Jurisdiction F (JF)! We're excited to partner with your organization.
Whether you're a hospital, critical access hospital (CAH), skilled nursing facility (SNF), community mental health center (CMHC), end-stage renal disease (ESRD) facility, or other Medicare Part A provider, understanding Medicare's processes and requirements is an important first step toward successful billing and reimbursement.
Medicare terminology can sometimes feel overwhelming. To help, Noridian offers an Acronyms and Glossary resource that explains commonly used Medicare terms and abbreviations.
If you've recently completed enrollment with Medicare, you've already taken the first step. The next steps should be completed in the order presented, as each step builds on the previous one and helps ensure your organization can successfully establish electronic access, submit institutional claims, monitor claim status, receive remittance information, and access Medicare self-service tools.
Register with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) enables providers to electronically exchange important billing and claims information with Medicare. Hospitals, SNFs, ESRD facilities, and other institutional providers use EDI to submit UB-04 claim data, receive electronic remittance advice, verify beneficiary eligibility, and conduct other Medicare transactions.
Even if your facility works with a billing service, clearinghouse, or third-party vendor, EDI registration is required before accessing many Medicare electronic services, including the Noridian Medicare Portal (NMP).
To begin, visit EDISS Connect, select your state, and choose the Registration tab.
Sign Up for the Noridian Medicare Portal (NMP)
Once your organization has registered with EDI and received its first Medicare payment, staff can request access to the Noridian Medicare Portal.
The NMP is a free, secure online tool where authorized users can access beneficiary eligibility information, claim status, payment details, remittance information, and other self-service features that support day-to-day operations.
This resource is especially valuable for billing offices, patient financial services teams, reimbursement staff, revenue cycle professionals, and compliance personnel who regularly work with Medicare claims and payments.
Review the Inquiry Guide to learn about available functionalities and the Registration Guide for step-by-step registration instructions.
Contacting Noridian
Noridian offers several self-service options designed to help institutional providers quickly find answers and resolve issues.
Before calling, consider using the Noridian Medicare Portal, website resources, and educational materials to obtain claim, eligibility, remittance, and billing information. These tools often provide immediate access to the information your staff needs.
All calls are routed through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. The IVR Guide includes options for General Inquiries, EDI, Provider Enrollment, Reopenings, and User Security/NMP support.
Customer Service Representatives can assist with issues that cannot be resolved through self-service tools and provide guidance on Medicare billing requirements, claims processing, reimbursement questions, and other program-related inquiries.
Education and Training
Noridian's Provider Outreach and Education team offers training specifically designed for institutional providers and their billing staff. Training is available through live webinars, recorded webinars, one-on-one education, and the self-paced Noridian Educational Experience (NEE) learning platform. Many educational events and curricula offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
