X-ray taken using film

Instructions

When billing for an X-ray service that was done using film, append the FX modifier to the appropriate code.

Correct Use

  • Use only when the X-ray is taken by film
    • A payment reduction of 20% will be applied to the technical component
    • Regardless of where stored

Incorrect Use

  • Not to be used when the X-ray is taken with digital radiography
