Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Support Services

EDISS Remittance Advice Process Change

Based on recent CMS direction involving suppression of Standard Paper Remittance Advice (SPR) outlined in Change Request (CR)10151, EDI Support Services (EDISS) is implementing a process change for Medicare 835 Remittance Advice recipients.

CR10151 eliminates the issuance of SPRs to providers/suppliers who have been receiving Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA). See more details in CMS Medicare Learning Network (MLN) Matters (MM)10151.

No Submitter action is needed, but for those who make changes in EDISS Connect to remove the 835 transaction, the following changes are being implemented immediately to address this CR.

Part A providers who unenroll from the 835 transaction in EDISS Connect will have their ERA option removed from the Medicare standard system and will not be moved back to a paper option. Part A Noridian Medicare Portal (NMP) users, who have "Remittance" access, may view Remittance Advice (RA) information for a single claim. If you do not currently use NMP or have this access, we encourage you to register for it and/or request it.
